Successful behaviour modification begins with understanding why the dog is doing what they’re doing. This understanding informs a training plan to develop appropriate skills. Only then does classical training begin!

Using remote sessions, we can work together through these steps in a way which is straightforward, supportive and effective.

How many sessions are typically needed varies greatly case-by-case. To begin, we would schedule two appointments; anything after that is on an as-needed basis.

How It Works

Introductory Call

  • An initial phone chat to understand what you would like to work on and where the difficulties lie.

  • I will request a variety of videos, which I use to observe your dog, their life and their behaviours. This is more effective than an in-person session: I can see different situations and reactions over the course of many days, and without my presence changing the way your dog behaves.

Session 1 (1.5 hours)

  • We cover some important information about how dogs experience the world, how they learn, how they communicate and what that means for working most effectively with your pet.

  • We go over the behaviours and patterns I noticed in the videos, talk about how that connects to the information we discussed, and the training techniques I recommend.

  • We discuss the training techniques in detail - why they help, when you would use them, and how to start teaching them.

Session 1 Follow Up

  • I provide a full written report explaining the important information and theory, and how it relates to your dog.

  • I write up notes on each video, allowing you to review them with the new information in mind, and see where the suggested training techniques would fit in.

  • I include an instruction sheet for each suggested training technique. These cover each level of difficulty from beginner to expert.

Session 2 (1 hour)

  • This usually takes place 2 weeks after the first session, to give you time to get started. I will request another listing of videos prior to the session.

  • We discuss your progress, and tweak the techniques and approach based on how it’s all going.

Session 2 Follow Up

  • If we go over new techniques or information, I provide another written report on an as-needed basis.

  • We book in another appointment if desired.

Pricing

All sessions are entirely pay-what-you-can-afford. Below are suggested prices; if you can pay more, that’s great! It will help me provide support to other dog lovers who might be able to pay less. If you can pay less, that’s absolutely fine. Everyone should be able to get support for their pet.

Session 1 (1.5 hours): £80

Session 2 (1 hour): £50
